DOLPHIN CONNECTION TEXAS
INGLESIDE ON THE BAY, TEXAS

| 03/22/10 | Naps aren't cool until you're 40 | | Spring break is here and we've been busier than a cat in a litter box. To date we have 5 newborn baby dolphins. They are so incredibly wonderful. If you have never seen one, you've got too, and now you can! Thanks to our friends at Paxson Enterprises, Inc., you can download our newest video and see a baby just minutes old taking its first swim. I must warn you, it will melt your heart. Once in a while when the dolphins are following the shrimp boats, pigging out on the by catch, a mother will leave her baby with us. Some of these babies can be quit a flipper full for their mom. Then, we get to babysit and play with them. We use toys like pelican feathers, jellyfish, and seaweed. One day, Deana left her baby Shelly (six months old) with us. We were fencing with Shelly's nose and flossing her teeth with a pelican feather. Shelly was really into it. What a blast. An hour passed quickly. Deana got done snacking and called for Shelly to come. Shelly turned around, said something to her mom, blew her off and kept playing. Soon, Deana called for her again. Again, Shelly turned around, said something to her and blew her off again. It wasn't long before Deana came swimming in between Shelly and the boat. She pushed Shelly away and smacked her pretty good with her head. It was obvious that Deana was a tad upset with Shelly as they swam off. We followed them to the other side of an island. There we found lots of mothers with their babies. All were resting. It was time for a nap and just like our children, Shelly wasn't ready. As we all know, naps aren't cool until you're in your 40s. Unless you're a mom with a wild child. We hope you enjoy our newest video! |
