DOLPHIN CONNECTION TEXAS
INGLESIDE ON THE BAY, TEXAS

| 07/13/10 | Sailing Through the Fourth of July | | Dolphins and humans both checked it out. Four tall ships sailed into Ingleside for a unique celebration of the birth of our great country. All four sailing vessels were spectacular, but to me the Mexican ship had the most flare. Mariachi music was playing and sailors were dancing as they came into port at the old naval station in Ingleside. They flew one of the biggest Mexican flags I've ever seen. The U.S. ship had to get a bigger one, but it was still only a 1/3 the size. The other two ships were from Chile and Uruguay. The Chilean ship was my second favorite. Fireworks lit the sky on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th. We had a rescue out in the blue this last weekend. We came upon a baby white tailed dove that had gone down in the bay. After several attempts to get close to it in the boat failed, I ended up diving into the blue to apprehend the little guy. It seemed calm as we headed back to the dock. One of our great customers, who rescues squirrels, took the bird under their wing for a little rest and rehab. The wind had let up for a week allowing for some very happy dolphin lovers. Hope your 4th of July was as great as it was here in south Texas. To date we are still unaffected by the oil in the Gulf. We were blessed and highly favored as both hurricane Alex and the following tropical depression went into Mexico. Our dock disappeared for a few days from the tidal surges, but caused no damage or loss. |
